Pittsburgh Select Lacrosse (PSL) was established in 2006 with the mission to give Western Pennsylvania athletes an opportunity to benefit from experienced, successful coaches.  The club was started with the vision of assembling a group of U15 players, considered to be the most talented and athletic in Western Pennsylvania, and growing with them. These young athletes were teamed with some of the most respected area coaches.  This core group of players has been showcased in tournaments throughout the Eastern United States, as well as dominating in local summer play.   Each year the club has grown – within its ability to retain and attract top-tier coaches – by adding teams at different age levels.   Throughout the years, PSL has priced membership dues as reasonably as possible to attract as many good players and families as possible.  PSL also prides itself on being the most organized team in the area.

Club founder Matt Oxenreiter sold the club to Gary DeCock In 2008.  Gary has expanded the club to include boys travel teams in the North Hills while increasing the offerings in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.  This localization of travel team offerings will help to foster meaningful summer play.

PSL fields High School JV and Varsity teams in both the North Hills and South Hills, which will allow PSL to grow further and achieve long term club success. Top players from both the North Hills and South Hills teams merge in the summer to create the “All City” team.  This truly Elite-level team will be showcased in college recruiting camps and tournaments.  The club is proud that both the North Hills and South Hills teams are diverse by drawing players from many school districts.   We believe that our players improve their overall game faster by benefiting from objective input from having different coaches, with different styles, and practicing and playing together closely with neighboring school district  players of similar or greater skill.

Gary now offers travel programs to our youngest area players by forming a PSL U-11 travel team.  Personal coaching attention and instruction at this level will help these young players properly learn the fundamentals of lacrosse - and from the same top-tier level of coaches.

2009 also marks the year that Gary has introduced a new HS Girls Lacrosse travel program!  Again, Gary is relying on top area Girls Lacrosse coaches to launch PSL’s Girls Lacrosse travel program.

PSL will not promise that your son or daughter will be recruited to a Division I school to play lacrosse but we will promise to give your child as many tools as possible to reach that dream. However, we think that marketing a lacrosse club as your son’s or daughter’s ticket to college is disingenuous.

What we are confident and sure in promising is the best exposure, the best coaching, the best value and the best local travel lacrosse experience!
